Things took off commercially with their third album, 1982’s All Four One, which featured the hits “Only the Lonely” and “Take the L,” aided by popular music videos on the early MTV. punk rock scene and released their first album in 1979. An early milestone for The Motels was their performance at the Radio Free Hollywood show in 1976, which helped open the doors for unsigned, cutting-edge bands to perform at Los Angeles venues.
